New and Cool Stuff for 2019!
I know I've been terrible with writing blog posts. Between the move to Charleston and the Christmas season, our little fannys were kicked! Nevertheless, here we are! Two-thousand nineteen is shaping up to be a great year for us at Wayward Gourmet and I wanted to let everyone in on cool changes in the pipeline.
- We've invested in 2 new production machines. As many of you know, Wayward Gourmet is an extremely small operation of just my wife Liz and myself. We handle everything from filling jars of rubs, to labeling, to shipping and...ahem....blog posts. As production has increased over 50% from last year, we decided to invest in a filling machine and a labeling machine. Everything will still be created by hand, we'll just have a more streamlined process for getting the product into the jars and labeled. We're extremely excited to make this step which we hope will speed up production time and eliminate the dreaded "sold out" signs.
- We're now including an additional safety/freshness seal inside our jars. We've always had a "tamper proof" sticker that goes over each jar's lid, but we decided that we wanted to take an additional step to make sure our rubs are not only safe, but as fresh as possible. For any larger company, this is probably a small deal, but for a 2 person operation, researching and implementing an additional step into our production line is huge! Even though we're super small, we want to provide the safety and quality of a fist-class food producer.
We'll have more flavorful changes to announce in the coming weeks. Wink! Wink!
