Three Recipes to Jumpstart Your Outdoor Feasting Season

The Ultimate Cookout | Wayward Gourmet

Be the Envy of All Your Neighbors!

There might be a little bit of bias involved, but we’ve got to say: Our Steak Your Claim Steak Rub is pretty darn great. Never mind the fact that it creates a steak taste explosion that is second to none. Never mind the fact it creates a drool-worthy crust that holds all those sexy, sweet, and savory juices inside whatever cut of meat you rub on it. Never mind the fact that this rub is so good that it can take any ol’ cheap cut of meat and turn it into a steakhouse worthy entrée, and take a gorgeous cut of meat into the stratosphere.

Never mind all that stuff. Why?

Because Steak Your Claim handles so much more than just your steaks.

Here’s the deal: If you’ve got a $20 spot in your pocket, a grill in your back yard, and a jar of Steak Your Claim, you can throw together an amazing meal for two that will knock the socks off you and your guests. (And all of your neighbors who will be suffering from smell envy when they get a whiff of the savory paprika, zesty garlic, and spicy pepper blend sizzling away on the grill.)
Let’s get started, shall we?

Abracadabra Steak (Your Claim)
Why Abracadabra Steak? Because it can magically turn even a basic Top Round into a work of art!

  • 2 10 oz Steaks, 1.5 inches thick
  • 2 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 4 Tablespoon Steak Your Claim Dry Rub
  • Crank up the grill to high heat. Let that fire roar.
  • 20 minutes prior to grilling, take the steaks out of the refrigerator.
  • Lightly coat each side of the steaks with olive oil. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  • Get your magic fingers working. Rub one tablespoon of Steak Your Claim into each side of the steaks. Allow to sit for 10-15 minutes.
  • Cook the first side on high heat for 4-5 minutes, allowing a nice char and a golden crust.
  • Flip the steaks and allow to cook for another 3-5 minutes to achieve a perfect medium rare.
  • Remove steaks from the grill and place on a cutting board or other flat surface. Tent with tinfoil and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
  • Serve and bask in the brilliance of this wondrous rub.

Steak Your Cheese Straws
Crunchy, cheesy, and tying in all the garlicky, paprika dense, peppery goodness of your magic steak.

  • 1 Stick of Butter
  • 2 Cups of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 ½ Cups of All Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of Cayenne pepper
  • 2 Tablespoon Steak Your Claim, divided
  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • In a food processor, combine butter, cheese, flour, salt, cayenne, and 1 Tablespoon of the Steak Your Claim. Process until dough has formed.
  • Either in a cookie press or with a rolling pin and knife, create long thin straws of dough and place on a greased cookie sheet.
  • Sprinkle remaining Steak Your Claim onto the cheese straws.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool and serve with your favorite dipping sauce or simply eat plain.  They're that tasty!

Shaved for the Summer Salad
This vinaigrette combined with the thinly sliced magic of summer vegetables makes this a salad that impresses enough by itself, but pairs with your steak and straws to create a perfect summer meal.

To Make the Vinaigrette:

  • 1 Tablespoon of Steak Your Claim
  • 1 tablespoon chopped shallot
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons champagne vinegar
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
To Make the Salad
  • 1 zucchini, cut into 2-inch segments
  • 1 yellow squash, cut into 2-inch segments
  • 4 baby golden beets, peeled
  • 3 large white mushrooms
  • 1/3 cup chopped chives

Combine and vigorously whisk the vinaigrette ingredients. (Don’t have a whisk? Put it into an old salad dressing bottle and then shake it like a Polaroid picture.)
Thinly slice all the vegetables into 2 inch strips. This is easier if you have a vegetable peeler or a mandolin, but using a knife and a smidge of patience will work just fine.
Drizzle the thin veggies with the vinaigrette and toss with freshly chopped chives.

Allow to rest in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.

There you have it! Three incredible dishes with one incredible rub. Sure, Steak Your Claim is a miracle worker on any piece of meat, but it is capable of taking other ordinary food item and creating something extraordinary.
